What we believe about prophecy

Full Circle Church is a resting place for the presence of God. And as we invite Him to work in our hearts and lives, we will certainly see the Holy Spirit move in different ways. 

We believe that spiritual gifts are incredibly important and can (should!) be in full operation within the body of Christ today. These gifts flow out of the Spirit, through the believer, and then to the people. We long to see such gifts (prophecy, speaking in tongues and the interpretation of tongues, gift of healings, words of knowledge, etc…) displayed in our corporate services. 

Prophecy is hearing a specific word from God through the Holy Spirit and then sharing it with another person, or in some cases, the larger body, which is then known as a “corporate prophetic word”.

While prophecy tends to be more commonly used to proclaim the Word of God, prophecy can be foretelling - to tell of something before it happens. God knows everything. He knows the past, the present, and the future. Man does NOT know everything. Only through the Holy Spirit can we know something of the future. Through the gift of prophecy, the Holy Spirit can cause a believer to speak forth something about the future.

What is the difference between prophets and the gift of prophecy? A prophet has the “office of a prophet”, carrying a weight, an anointing, a responsibility, of full-time leadership to the body. This differs from the gift of prophecy which is the gift of inspired utterance. The title of prophet is for a rather small number of the body’s members. However, the gift of prophecycan be experienced by ALL of the members. “you can all prophesy in turn” (1 Corinthians 14:31).

Prophecy is a very important gift for the building up and edifying of the body. It is a gift which makes the body come alive in a special way.
